Driver's Education Program

Lexington Community Education is pleased to offer driver's education training at Lexington High School through Lexington Driving School. Classes are held in the main building of LHS and are open to anyone who is at least 15 years and 9 months of age prior to the date of the first class. Students must be 16 and have a RMV learner’s permit to drive.

The driver education course consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction, 12 hours of driving instruction in a car and 6 hours of observation in a car. Students are required to drive 40 hours with their parents, and parents are required by the RMV to attend a 2 hour parent class which is taught monthly from 6–8 pm. The parent certificate is good for 5 years.

Afternoon classes are held from 3:30-6:30 pm, and evening classes are held from 5:30– 8:30 pm. Behind the wheel driving appointments are arranged in advance from 8:00 am – 8:00pm,and not to conflict with high school classes. If you have a valid learner's permit, you may schedule behind the wheel lessons with Lexington Driving School by contacting them at 781 646 5000 or 781 861 0228 as soon as your class begins. Students will be picked up at LHS or later at their homes for driving lessons. 48 hours notice is required to change or cancel a lesson. There will be a $40 service charge for a missed lesson or late cancellation. You should anticipate three to four months to complete the entire process.

ALL REGISTRATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED TO LEXINGTON COMMUNITY EDUCATION. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. No student may enter the classroom without having been pre-registered.
