Kathryn DiCola :: Oboe

Oboist Kathryn Fields DiCola, a native of Laurel, Mississippi, received Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Louisiana State University, where her teacher was Earnest Harrison. Other teachers included Louis Rosenblatt and Raymond Weaver. Ms. DiCola has attended master classes of Richard Woodhams, Robert Bloom and Evelyn Rothwell. She has extensive experience as an orchestral player, chamber musician, soloist and teacher. Ms. DiCola currently is principal oboist of the Granite State Opera. She held the position as principal oboist of the Nashua, Granite State, Cape Ann, Delaware and Lancaster Symphonies, Pennsylvania Opera Theater and OperaDelaware. She has performed as English hornist of the Reading and Baton Rouge Symphonies. She has performed with many groups around New England and Philadelphia, such as the Boston Ballet, Orchestra of Indian Hill, Symphony by the Sea, Lexington Sinfonietta, Handel Society of Dartmouth, Harmonie (a woodwind octet), Portland and Springfield Symphonies, and Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra. Ms. DiCola has recorded Rossini’s opera "Zelmira" with Harmonie, and has also recorded with Native Tongues (Bonnie Insull, flute and Jose Lexcano, guitar) on their recording "Passports."
