Description
Using oil pastels, you will produce your own compositions of various art subjects. The first subject will be chosen by the Instructor at the beginning of the course, and, in the later part of the course students will choose their own subjects. Drawing methods used in this course are outline then the creative strokes using oil pastel sticks in achieving perspective, proportion, contrast, depth and dimension. Oil pastels are waxy thick with pigment mixed with non-drying oil thus the thicker pad is used e.g. Canson, Strathmore. Please come to these virtual classes with the art materials required.
Class size limited to 7.
Art Materials needed:
*Easel (either floor or table top)
*9″ x 12″ Pad (80-Pound 24-Sheet Assorted Pastel Paper Pad by Strathmore; or
24-Sheet Mi-Teintes Pad for Pastels in assorted colors from Canson available at Amazon, online art stores)
*Set of Oil Pastels (more colors preferred in brand names Sakura Cray-Pas, Sennelier, Gallery Artist, Holbein, Caran d’Arche Neopastel, Erengi Art Aspirer, Maimeri Classico, Mungyo Gallery Soft Oil)
*Drawing pencils (graphite or charcoal; white pencils are used if pad is in rich black)
