Beautiful traditional Chinese Instrument This class is perfect for adults with no/little prior experience who want to learn the basics of playing the guzheng, one of China’s most beautiful and expressive traditional instruments. Taught in a small group setting, students will receive personalized guidance from a highly experienced instructor with decades of teaching expertise. Instrument will be provided during class.
Yi Ding is a Guzheng teacher and member of Boston Chinese Musicians Association. She holds an Advanced Teacher Certification from Central Conservatory of Music and has been recognized as an Excellent Instructor of Central Conservatory in Music Chinese Instrument Grade Examination from 2019 to 2023. In 2018, she was invited to be a judge in Grade Examination Star Guzheng Music Competition. Yi Ding teaches students ranging from 4 to 60 years old at Chinese School Andover and has helped many of her students win awards in international music competitions and professional Guzheng performing competitions in China. In 2021, she established Yi Zhiyin Guzheng Ensemble with the aim of bringing a variety of culture and traditional music to the local community. The ensemble has been invited to perform at many community activities and festival celebrations. In 2022, Yi Zhiyin Guzheng Ensemble won first place in the instrument competition at HuaYue Cup International competition.
