This class is designed for adults with a wide range of skills who are interested in playing chamber music together. We will explore different pieces from the classical repertoire, and address both the technical and musical components of ensemble playing. Whether you are a beginner or someone who has taken an extended break from playing but would like to resume (and need a motivational program to help!), this is sure to be a rewarding experience. The class is open to violinists, violists, cellists, bassists, oboist, flutists, and bassoonists who are comfortable with basic note-reading, and are playing at a “late beginner” level or higher. Please contact the instructor with any questions or concerns regarding playing ability.
James Alers received training at Longy Conservatory and Boston Conservatory and is currently the assistant director of the string ensembles at Assumption College and Clark University.
