Description
This introductory Mandarin class is designed for curious and motivated students in Grades 3–5 who are interested in Chinese language and culture, but have little or no prior exposure. Whether they’re considering Mandarin as a future middle school subject or simply exploring a new language, this course offers a fun and low-pressure environment to experience what learning Mandarin is like.
Using Easy Steps to Chinese for Kids as the main resource, students will learn basic vocabulary and everyday expressions while developing listening and speaking skills through interactive, hands-on activities. Cultural themes such as Chinese festivals, food, calligraphy, and traditional stories are also introduced to spark interest and deepen cultural understanding.
Prerequisite: Grades 3–5 with no or very limited Mandarin background, especially those
curious about learning Mandarin in the future.
