We admire portraits that capture the uniqueness of a person(s). Developing a better understanding and practice of drawing the structural building blocks of a head and shoulders format are the foundation and the vehicle for the depiction of the characteristic features of a sitter(s). Tailored to the individual needs instructions will promote confidence and skills’ development. Prior drawing experience is helpful. Materials: Drawing pad, H2 pencils, kneaded eraser, vine charcoal, acrylic paints and flat and filbert brushes any size.
Emilia Farrell is a Belmont, MA based artist and art instructor, born in Chernovtsy, Ukraine. Throughout the years of working professionally as a piano teacher (Chernovtsy, UA) , singer at the Pokrovsky Music Ensemble (Moscow, RU), and music director of Na Vulitse (Boston, MA), she maintained her fascination, love and skill sharpening by studying art with V. Sangarov, Monique Johannet, Babrara Baum, Sue Miller and David Small. Her lifelong love of art history nourishes her creativity and artistic pursuits.
The subject matter of her works are portraits, landscapes and still-life in the traditional/impressionistic style. She continuously expands her knowledge of ideas and concepts of various time periods, as well as relevant techniques and use of materials.
She is actively participates in the New England’s art events, exhibits and is a member of the Oil Painters of America (OPA). She enjoyed teaching drawing and oil painting classes at the Newton Adult Education Center, as well as at the private students’ studios. Her works are receiving a great feedback and warm words of praise from the collectors.
