Build 3-D models of bridges with popsicle/craft sticks and safe “cool” glue guns. Learn about different bridge styles and locations, along with engineering principles like the power of the triangle. We’ll start with truss bridges, arch bridges, and then more complex forms including moveable bridges. We’ll explore bridge design in the context of story and history, with options to build boats, castle towers, or other structures to complete design scenarios. This course is very hands-on and connected to STEM learning. Exercise your eye for design and express your inner architect and engineer!

— 1 box 500-1000 craft sticks (popsicle stick size, not jumbo size)
— Cool Tool” glue gun: Cool Tool (battery operated)
— batteries (4 AA batteries → will need a minimum of 12 batteries/large package or rechargeable batteries to recharge overnight)
— 1 pack of 15 low-temp glue sticks
— 20+ toothpicks
— 10 paper or plastic straws
— 12 pipe cleaners
— 2 meters of string
— ability to print out emailed pdfs of bridge templates
— transparent or masking tape
— optional for decoration: paint and paintbrush
