Description
Caribbean Dance and Baton Twirling explores the traditional dances from Puerto Rico – Salsa, Bomba and Plena, which are beautiful expressions of dance usually using straw hats and/or long, flowy skirts as part of the choreography. We will dance to the music of the island, learning the differences in rhythms and beats. Additionally we will learn basic baton twirling skills (with soft batons) including incorporating some Latin dance moves while throwing and catching the baton. We will dance and twirl all week– all while learning about another culture and ways to exercise and express emotion through dance.
