Description
Get ready for an imaginative ride in Amusement Park Architects, a class where you’ll explore the thrill and engineering behind your favorite theme parks by building working models! We will use Lego K’nex and folded paper to dive into the principles of structural design, mechanical movement, and aesthetic planning. You’ll learn how to replicate classic rides, from intricate roller coasters and spinning carousels to dramatic drop towers, focusing on the physics and geometry that make them safe and exciting. We will get the chance to build pre-planned kits as well as create ride models from imagination. This hands-on, project-based class is perfect for creative thinkers and builders who want to look at the engineering and design that bring amusement parks to life.
Kevin Buckley is an engineering teacher at Diamond.
