Description
We hear a lot about Lexington’s colonial history, but do you know what happened after the Revolution? Join us for a week of hands-on history, detective work, and media making. We’ll investigate Lexington in the 1800’s, when how people lived and worked, who could vote and go to school, and what people did for fun all began to change. Learn how historians find clues in letters, diaries, photographs, newspapers, maps, clothing, and more to uncover the stories of people. We’ll explore the past through places like Lexington’s Ellen Stone Building, a hotspot for debates on women’s rights, slavery, and abolition. Participants will uncover stories themselves and learn how to share their discoveries through short videos, social media, and other creative storytelling techniques.
Carolyn Goldstein and Kathleen Dalton work with the Lexington Lyceum to create history learning opportunities.
