Description

Tea is the most popular drink in the world–and its popularity keeps growing as more people discover its rich tastes and aromas, stimulating qualities and healthful benefits. For hundreds of years, tea has literally connected the world–its trade routes, cultures, and arts and crafts–beginning in China (and Burma) and expanding to India, Japan, the Middle East, Western Europe and the Americas. Like wines, there are hundreds of types of camellia sinensis, depending on the climate, soil, and many different ways of harvesting, drying and curing the plant. We’ll sample at least eight fine, loose-leaf teas, from different regions of China, India and Ceylon (Sri Lanka), as well as possibly Formosa (Taiwan), Japan, Nepal, or new producers in Africa. Sweet and savory snacks will compliment the tastings. Bring a favorite teacup or two—and learn how to brew the perfect cup of tea.
