Description
The Baroque era was one of the richest and most diverse periods in music history and known for its high movement, intricate details and ornamentations. This ensemble is open to all adventurous musicians of all levels ages 16 and older. Come practice your skills with others who share the same passion and invoke the baroque philosophy of music as a powerful tool of communication! We will tackle Purcell’s Abdelazer Suite and Telemann’s Suite in A minor. All instruments are welcome!
Shant Arakelian is a performer and educator of the bassoon, clarinet, flute and piccolo having graduated in 2021 from Gordon College with a Bachelor of Music Performance degree. A lifelong resident of Lexington, Shant is a 2017 graduate of Lexington High School having won the coveted Concerto Competition in 2017 playing the Mozart Bassoon Concerto in Bb-Major, K. 191. A prolific performer of music Shant has performed with the Harvard Musical Association Orchestra, Metro-West Symphony Orchestra, Reading Symphony Orchestra, MITSPO (MIT Summer Philharmonic Orchestra) and is currently the Principal Bassoonist with the Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra.
