Hospice volunteers can make a profound difference the lives of patients in just one-to-two hours per week by engaging in activities which will enhance the patient's quality of life. Activities can include playing music, reading a book, gentle presence, talking, and holding a patient’s hand. During this course we will introduce perspective Compassionate Care volunteers to our interdisciplinary team members. Our training will include an overview of the philosophy of hospice, end-of-life medical issues, working with family dynamics and communication, grief and loss, and spiritual care. Once the training and application process is complete the potential volunteer will have the opportunity to serve others through Compassionate Care Hospice.
