Description

This hands-on workshop is a delightful introduction to two beloved Ukrainian egg-decorating techniques: the Traditional Pysanky method and the playful Krapanky (Polka Dot) style. We’ll begin with the world of Krapanky, using special tools to apply wax dots and patterns—simple yet beautiful. Then we’ll shift into the traditional wax-resist method, using a kistka (stylus), melted beeswax, and a rainbow of dyes to create symbolic folk designs. This class is perfect for both beginners and returning Pysanky makers. By the end, you’ll have two finished eggs and a deeper appreciation for this meaningful folk art. All materials are provided, including emptied and cleaned chicken eggs, beeswax, and high-quality dyes. Children ages 5+ are welcome to attend when accompanied by an adult. A $20 material fee is payable to the instructor upon arrival.
