Description

This class will explore felt making as a medium for artistic expression. While strong technical skills are essential, we will attempt to move beyond technique towards the exploration of ideas. Participants will be asked to keep a small notebook or sketchbook in which to work out plans. These personal sketchbooks may be shared or not, but all of us should be prepared to discuss our felt work in various stages. The atmosphere will be supportive and gentle. While weekly prompts will be provided for inspiration, each of us always has the freedom to generate and pursue our own themes. Participants may choose to work in two dimensions or three. Although this is a felt making class, we will consider which techniques, colors, textures and materials will help us to express our creative concepts. Experimentation is encouraged.

Elizabeth Stubbs has been an artist all her life, working in a variety of mediums.  For the past twenty years she has been exploring felt making as an art form and sharing it with others through classes and workshops at several locations including the Winsor School, Waldorf School of Lexington, ArtSpan Lexington, Umbrella Community Arts and with private students.
