Mandarin MLP Level 4 (Ma Li Ping Chinese)

Description

Using the Heritage Chinese Level 4 (MLP-4) textbook and practice book, this course is designed for heritage Chinese students with solid foundational skills in Mandarin. Students will engage with longer and more sophisticated texts, explore a wider range of vocabulary, and develop a deeper understanding of grammar and sentence structure.

The course emphasizes reading fluency, accurate character writing, and analytical thinking through story-based comprehension, cultural readings, and classical Chinese elements. Students will practice summarizing texts, expressing opinions, and writing structured multi-paragraph responses. Through discussions, writing assignments, and oral presentations, they will continue to strengthen their communication skills in both written and spoken Mandarin.

Prerequisite: Completion of Heritage Chinese Level 3 or equivalent proficiency in Mandarin reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Next Level: Students who complete this class will be prepared for Heritage Chinese Level 5.
