Introduction to Pysanky

Discover the beautiful Ukrainian art of Pysanky in this beginner-friendly workshop led by a native Ukrainian artist. Participants will learn about the history, symbolism, and traditions behind these intricate decorated eggs while creating their own Pysanky using the traditional wax-resist method. Using a real chicken egg, beeswax, candle, “kistka” tool, and vibrant dyes, participants will be guided step-by-step through the process of designing and decorating their eggs. No previous experience is necessary. Emptied and cleaned chicken eggs, dyes, and all materials will be provided. By the end of the workshop, each participant will complete one or two unique pysanky eggs while gaining a deeper appreciation for this cherished Ukrainian folk art tradition. Children ages 6+ are welcome when accompanied by an adult. A $20 material fee is payable to the instructor upon arrival.
