Discover a colorful twist on traditional Ukrainian egg decorating in this Tie Dye Pysanky workshop. Participants will learn the basics of the wax-resist method while experimenting with vibrant dye combinations to create bold and unique tie-dye inspired designs. Using real chicken eggs, beeswax, candles, “kistka”tools, and a wide selection of dyes, each participant will create one or two finished pysanky eggs. We will work with multiple color layers chosen from a palette of over 20 dye options, allowing for endless creative possibilities. This workshop is beginner-friendly and especially fun for families. Children ages 6+ are welcome when accompanied by an adult. A $20 material fee is payable to the instructor upon arrival.

Alona Popova is passionate about preserving the rich tradition of Ukrainian egg decorating. Born and raised in Ukraine, she is dedicated to safeguarding and sharing this cultural heritage in its modern form. As an experienced instructor, Alona has taught Pysanky at community educational centers, Ukrainian schools, and Ukrainian cultural center. She actively researches pysanky history, explores natural dyes, and incorporates techniques from contemporary Pysankarky in Ukraine and beyond. Her workshops welcome participants of all skill levels to discover the beauty and wonder of this cherished art form.
