Traditional Wheat Straw Décor: Himmeli “Pavuk”

Step into the enchanting world of traditional straw crafts as we create a Himmeli “Pavuk” decoration from natural wheat straw. Found across Northern and Eastern Europe, including Ukrainian folk traditions, these geometric hanging decorations symbolize harmony, prosperity, and the interconnectedness of the universe. Traditionally displayed in homes during the winter season, the “Pavuk” is believed to bring good fortune and happiness to the family. In this workshop, participants will learn the techniques used to construct geometric forms from straw while creating their own elegant hanging decoration to display during the holidays or year round. No previous experience is necessary. All materials are provided. Children ages 6+ are welcome when accompanied by an adult. A $20 material fee is payable to the instructor upon arrival.
