In this fun, beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn simple sculpting techniques to shape, assemble, and personalize your own whimsical gnome. Choose from a variety of design elements, including hats, beards, braids, textures, and seasonal embellishments to make the ornament uniquely yours. Along the way, you’ll discover tips for working with molding clay, adding fine details, and creating a durable keepsake you’ll be proud to display or give as a thoughtful handmade gift. No prior sculpting experience is necessary. All materials are provided, and each participant will leave with up to three finished gnome ornaments and the skills and inspiration to continue creating at home.
Nate Clark grew up a Unitarian Universalist just a half hour from Follen in Dunstable Massachusetts. Nate did their MDiv degree at the Iliff School of Theology and has worked as a contract minister and hospital chaplain in Denver, Colorado. They hope to pursue their calling as a parish minister when their training is complete. Nate is also the Youth Programming Coordinator at Follen, working with their FUUY teens to create a year of fun and meaningful programming.
