Crafty Winter Coasters

Description

Learn to make beautiful coasters using decorative paper napkins and ceramic tiles! All materials will be provided, including a large selection of decorative napkins to choose from. Each participant will make and take home two water-and heat-resistant coasters. Join us as we share this fun, practical craft! Great for your winter holiday gatherings, or handmade gifts for others.

In 2024, after 24 years of an office job in international education, Debbie had the opportunity to leave her work and focus full-time on crafting. She launched Story Pieces (storypieces.store), where she takes illustrations from children’s books and decoupages them onto reclaimed wood pieces such as footstools, boxes and vintage PlaySkool block sets. She obtained a lot of the furniture from Arlington’s Everything is Free list and found creative ways to give these pieces new life. 

About a year later, someone from the list was giving away ceramic tiles. Debbie remembered seeing a craftsperson on a TV show decorating tiles using paper napkins. She went to YouTube to check out different techniques, purchased some napkins and started to experiment. Hundreds of coasters later, she has perfected a method for making beautiful, useful coasters. She is excited to share this fun, practical craft with all of you.
