We will be learning experimental watercolor techniques using alternative tools including: plastic wrap, sponges, toothbrushes, wax crayons, and masking fluid. Channel your inner child, loosen up, and have fun while playing with this amazingly fluid medium. Please bring a favorite photo that inspires you to paint a watercolor painting! This class is open to all levels.
Angela Ackerman is an artist and educator who has been teaching art to both children and adults since 1995 in some of the state’s most esteemed cultural institutions: including Danforth Art, DeCordova Sculpture Garden, RISD, and the Worcester Art Museum. She attended Rhode Island School of Design and has a BFA in illustration and a Masters in Education/Studio Art from Framingham State University. Prior to teaching, Angela designed greeting cards, giftwrap, and books for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City. She exhibited her work at the NY Stationery Show/Surtex Show and licensed her designs for 2D and 3D products, including: mugs, teapots, giftware, baby bedding, and ornaments. Angela’s editorial illustration clients include: Random House, The Washington Post, Family Therapy Networker, and Mortgage Banking Magazine.
Currently, Angela is most passionate about the creation process itself. She enjoys teaching Drawing, Watercolor, Botanical Illustration, Mixed Media Collage and Portfolio Prep. Whether in teaching or in her own art, she challenges herself to reinvent her process constantly, understanding that there is no limit to creativity as long as you always stay curious and eager to learn.
