Introduction to Polka Dot & Drop-Pull Pysanky

Explore two distinctive and beautiful techniques of Pysanky artistry in this creative, hands-on workshop. Participants will begin by learning the Polka Dot (Krapanky) style, a playful technique created by layering wax dots onto the egg. We will then explore the elegan Drop-Pull (Lemko-style) method, where molten wax is applied with a pin-head tool and gently pulled to form teardrop-shaped designs and flowing patterns. This class is perfect for beginners as well as returning Pysanky enthusiasts interested in exploring new techniques. By the end of the workshop, each participant will complete one or two unique pysanky eggs while gaining a deeper appreciation for this cherished Ukrainian folk art tradition. Emptied and cleaned chicken eggs, dyes, and all materials will be provided. Children ages 6+ are welcome when accompanied by an adult. A $20 material fee is payable to the instructor upon arrival.
