Description
This course is designed for heritage Chinese students who speak and understand Mandarin, but have limited skills in reading and writing Chinese. Using the Heritage Chinese Level 1 (MLP-1) textbook and practice book, students will strengthen their literacy through short stories, while learning basic and practical vocabulary, common sentence patterns, and Chinese character writing.
Our MLP teaching team brings years of experience teaching MLP curriculum, and they are highly skilled in helping heritage learners build a strong foundation in Chinese reading and writing in a supportive and engaging classroom environment. In addition to in-class instruction, students will complete written homework and participate in online listening and reading activities to reinforce learning and build fluency.
Prerequisite: Ability to understand and speak Mandarin; no prior reading or writing skills required.
This course lays the groundwork for continued success in Chinese literacy. Students who
complete this class will be ready to advance to Heritage Chinese Level 2.
