Celebrate the winter season by creating delicate wheat straw snowflake decorations inspired by traditional folk crafts. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to craft beautiful straw snowflakes and stars that can be used as Christmas tree ornaments, window decorations, gift toppers, or handmade seasonal gifts. Using templates, guides, and examples, participants will create a variety of 8-point, 12-point, or 16-point straw star designs. Each participant will leave with a collection of 3–6 handmade straw decorations. All materials are included. Children ages 6+ are welcome when accompanied by an adult. A $20 material fee is payable to the instructor upon arrival.

Alona Popova is passionate about preserving the rich tradition of Ukrainian egg decorating. Born and raised in Ukraine, she is dedicated to safeguarding and sharing this cultural heritage in its modern form. As an experienced instructor, Alona has taught Pysanky at community educational centers, Ukrainian schools, and Ukrainian cultural center. She actively researches pysanky history, explores natural dyes, and incorporates techniques from contemporary Pysankarky in Ukraine and beyond. Her workshops welcome participants of all skill levels to discover the beauty and wonder of this cherished art form.
